Nieves Barragán Mohacho to open private dining room Txoko above Legado in ShoreditchLegado, the Michelin-starred Shoreditch restaurant from chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho, will open a private dining and events room called Txoko this October, housed on the floor above its main dining room and intended for private hire, collaborative dinners and smaller-scale fine dining bookings. The txoko has historically been a male preserve, but Barragán Mohacho, one of the most prominent women working in Spanish cooking, has reworked it at Legado, retaining its communal character while opening it to all guests. Guests enter through a taberna with a bar and deli at one end and a fish display at the other, leading into a double-height dining room. Talking about the new project, Barragán Mohacho explained, “I wanted to create a space where people could get to know a little more about my references, the things that inspire me and that have been part of my journey. Cooking is a very personal form of expression, and this room allows me to share that dimension in a different way.”
