The splash park was previously closed back in June 2025 when sewage spilt from the pipes nearby. Back in June, Oxford City Council said no children came into contact with the overflow at Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park splash park. "There was no exposure to sewerage for users of the splash park. "The affected area was jetted and sanitised once the blockage was resolved within a couple of hours from being reported, and the splash park was reinstated." The splash park has been a popular summer attraction for children in Oxford since it opened in 2017.
