Christine Grady, a nurse-bioethicist who spent decades leading the National Institutes of Health's Department of Bioethics, is the wife of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former NIAID director now facing a Senate contempt of Congress referral. Grady was let go from NIH in 2025 amid restructuring under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and now serves as a senior bioethics adviser at Georgetown University. Her work centered on the ethics of clinical research, including informed consent, HIV research and international research ethics, Georgetown said. In 2022, questions arose after social media users suggested her role as head of NIH bioethics gave her oversight of Fauci's work. She was among several senior health officials with ties to Fauci who were fired or reassigned amid the NIH restructuring, CNN reported.
