A former employee of an Epic Systems subsidiary is challenging the company’s noncompete agreements in a federal court in California. EmailDane County-based Epic Systems is the nation’s dominant vendor of electronic health records software. In a statement, an Epic Systems spokesperson said the company emailed California-based employees in September 2025 to notify them that the “noncompete provisions in their Epic employee agreements would not apply.” Aside from scrutiny over its noncompete agreements, Epic has also faced lawsuits from competitors, and even the state of Texas, in recent years accusing it of violating antitrust laws. Before filing suit, Hull raised concerns with Abbott that Epic’s conduct and noncompete agreement violated California state law, the suit says.
