(Photo: Maui Eels Photography)CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Veterans hit the waves in Carolina Beach on Thursday as the Wounded Warrior Project partnered with local nonprofit Ocean Cure for a surf day along the coast. Participants learned how to properly stand on a surfboard, identify wave patterns and catch waves with help from instructors and volunteers. It also gave veterans an opportunity to build connections, share camaraderie and enjoy time together outside of a traditional setting. Ocean Cure has partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project on more than 100 surfing events in Carolina Beach since 2007.
