Mr Meager says smaller airports will be freed from blanket industry regulations and unnecessary compliance costs through the creation of a new civil aviation rule. “The new regulations introduce shorter runway end safety area (RESA) lengths for smaller airports. The new rule will streamline the approvals process for proposed RESA lengths, saving regional airports time and money. “This reform stems from the Government’s ambitious programme to fix the basics and modernise New Zealand’s civil aviation rules. It is the exact sort of work from the Civil Aviation Authority that I’m proud to oversee: practical, common-sense changes with long-term benefits.”
