Police responded at 6.40pm to Ranfurly Street following reports of a family harm incident. “Our staff responded into the area, and took this man into custody,” Inspector Nordstrom says. “Police would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident, involving parties known to each other, and police will continue enquiries in the area today.” The 37-year-old man will appear in the Whangārei District Court today charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public place, discharging a firearm to intimidate and presenting a firearm at a person.
