Because Oconee School District has demolition plans, Senior Solutions will require a new Walhalla home. In a presentation this week Doug Wright, executive director of Anderson-Oconee Senior Solutions, told Walhalla council members that in December the school district plans to demolish what was originally constructed as a middle school in the 1970s. City of Walhalla also uses the former school building for some of its recreation programs. According to mayor Tim Hall, Senior Solutions for a new Walhalla location is seriously considering the original Gathering Restaurant building next to the new police station under construct at S. John Street at Branch Street. This morning the school district released the following statement: ” The School District of Oconee County is moving forward with the planned demolition of the former Walhalla Middle School building as part of the district’s long-range facilities plan.
