Police in Marrakech have arrested a man who allegedly extorted foreign tourists while posing as an unlicensed tour guide in the city’s historic medina, according to Le360, citing security sources. The suspect allegedly approached two foreign tourists and demanded an unjustified sum in exchange for purported tour-guide services, despite not being authorized to work as a guide. The case came to light after a video of the incident circulated on social media, which led the police to launch an investigation. Authorities subsequently identified and arrested the suspect on Wednesday. The suspect has been placed in police custody pending an investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
