Bins outside the Riverfront have drawn criticism from residents and visitors, who say the issue is creating a poor impression of the area. Mike Enea, Argus columnist and political campaigner, said: "The city centre and riverfront area really should receive a priority focus on cleanliness and clean streets. "The bins outside the Riverfront are emptied daily by Newport City Council. Plans are in place to upgrade the bins outside the Riverfront as part of a wider city centre replacement programme. "The bins outside the Riverfront are currently standard litter bins, but they are due to be upgraded very shortly as part of the final phase of this wider replacement programme.
