E-scooter riders face higher brain injury risk than cyclists or motorcyclists

People who ride e-scooters face a higher risk of injuries to the brain and internal organs than cyclists or motorcyclists, analysis has suggested.
The findings showed that e-scooter users faced a 3.5 times higher risk of traumatic brain injury than motorcyclists, and a 1.5 times greater risk of injuring internal organs.
Compared with cyclists, e-scooter riders were 1.7 times more likely to sustain traumatic brain injuries.
However, the risk of fractures was 20 per cent lower for e-scooter users compared to motorcyclists, and 10 per cent lower than cyclists.
