Eight volunteers are now working with Torfaen Council’s Early Years service to deliver Pop-in and Play sessions across the borough as part of The Torfaen Deal, an initiative bringing together residents and services to better support children and families. "Our newly established Early years Volunteering Programme is truly making a real difference in enabling us to reach and engage with more families. "In turn, this is also allowing staff to focus on, and give one to one support for those families who need more intensive support." In addition to play sessions, volunteers also take a lead in delivering Swap Don't Shop sessions, support Forest School activities, and help to promote the Torfaen Family Information Service. The Early Years Volunteering Programme was developed with support from Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, who helped establish recruitment, training and governance arrangements.
