The incident, which put crews, residents and vehicles at risk, occurred in Monmouthshire last Friday, July 31.
A spokesperson for Monmouthshire County Council said: "Vapes can ignite when crushed during collection, putting our crews, residents and vehicles at risk.
Monmouthshire County Council is reminding the public to use dedicated recycling points in an effort to prevent further incidents.
Many supermarkets, vape shops and household recycling centres provide collection facilities for used vapes and batteries.
Recycling vapes properly not only reduces the risk of fires but also helps recover valuable materials, preventing unnecessary waste and protecting the environment.
