Members of the planning committee at New Forest District Council (NFDC) are due to consider the proposals on August 12.
The hotel, on the western end of Silver Street between a house and the petrol station, currently has 20 rooms and 78 parking spaces.
To the south of the site, Premier Inn wants to put up a two‑storey annexe block containing a further 27 en‑suite bedrooms, partly along the boundary with new housing now being built on former greenbelt land east of Everton Road.
The total number of rooms on the site would rise to 57, meeting what the company describes as “considerable demand” for budget accommodation in the area.
In the planning statement, Premier Inn said: “The proposals would add additional bedrooms to a well-used hotel on an established hotel site, providing facilities for both business and leisure travellers.
