A Harlem family, community, and local activists are relieved and overjoyed Friday after an autistic man missing for several days was found alive in Brooklyn. Prominent Black Lives Matter activists Hawk Newsome said in an Aug. 7 statement that 20-year-old Isaac Wilkie had been located in Williamsburg. The news came hours after Isaac’s mother, Naima Wilkie, made a desperate plea to New Yorkers to help find him. Isaac Wilkie had been missing since Monday when he walked out of his Harlem home at around 7 p.m. on Aug. 3. But on Friday, the mood turned from grief to relief after Isaac Wilkie had been found alive.
