The Chelsea Area Historical Society (CAHS) has completed the restoration of the iconic area map that for decades hung outside Burg’s Drug Store in downtown Chelsea.
The restored map, which dates to the late 1960s, will be unveiled during a public ceremony at noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, outside the Chelsea Area Historical Society Museum.
The original 1940s Chelsea area map was painted directly onto the exterior wall of Burg’s Drug Store on West Middle Street.

“To clarify, it’s not so much a ‘city’ map as it is an area map,” explains Chelsea Area Historical Society President Bill O’Reilly.
