Jammu Tawi, Aug 6: In the past 12 years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a surge in power demand by more than 24 percent. The figures further said that from the fiscal 2014-15 to 2025-26, Jammu and Kashmir recorded a surge in demand of 3,971 MU. The latest official figures reveal that the annual energy demand in J&K rose from 16,214 Million Units (MU) in 2014-15 to 20,185 MU in 2025-26. It also said that the peak power demand at 20,374 MU was recorded in 2024-25. The house was informed that in 2014-15, Jammu and Kashmir had an energy requirement of 16,214 MU against the availability of 13,119 MU.
