Arvind SharmaJAMMU Tawi, Aug 6: The Transport Department of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has approved the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the effective implementation of the Inter-state Transport Agreement between the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh. As per the government order, the new SOP will bring greater uniformity to the regulatory framework governing the movement of passenger and commercial vehicles between both Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The government order is also aimed at streamlining the process of issuing, verifying, and countersigning the transport permits, thereby improving administrative efficiency and reducing the procedural delays. The government believes that the standardized mechanism will facilitate seamless transport operations, enhance coordination between the transport authorities of both Union Territories, and provide greater convenience to the vehicle operators and commuters. The order has been issued by Avny Lavasa, Secretary to the Government, Transport Department, Jammu and Kashmir.
