Virgin Voyages’ cruise ship Valiant Lady plugged into the port’s shore power system, the port said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.
Shore power allows ships to switch off their auxiliary engines while berthed and draw electricity from the local grid, cutting emissions and improving air quality around ports.
The port had commissioned the multi-berth shore power system last month.
