The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has given reasons for for placing a no debit order in a bank account operated by the Osin State government domiciled with First Bank Plc.
But explaining its action, the EFCC in a statement on Wednesday night by Dele Oyewale, Head, Media and Publicity, said “Osun State government account was frozen to save public funds from being looted”.
The commission said it was “compelled to publicly address issues pertaining to its preventive moves in freezing the bank account of the Osun State government, without prejudice to the imminent governorship election in the state”.
“It is equally needful to state that the Commission is keeping watch over the finances of other states like Osun State.
The Osun State government account was frozen to save public funds from being looted.
