The Kano State Police Command has stepped up efforts to curb drug abuse, illicit trafficking and thuggery through a new partnership with the Kano State Multi-Agency Taskforce on Drugs and Illicit Trafficking.
He said the police would work closely with the task force through intelligence sharing, joint operations and the deployment of operational resources to dismantle drug trafficking networks and tackle other criminal activities linked to substance abuse.
The police commissioner also called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community members to support security agencies with credible information that could help prevent the spread of illicit drugs and protect young people from criminal influences.
He warned that individuals involved in drug trafficking, peddling or thuggery would face prosecution, reaffirming the command’s commitment to making Kano safer.
The renewed partnership comes amid growing concerns over the role of illicit drugs in fuelling youth violence and organised crime in Kano.
