James Richard Wooden, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, just shy of his 82nd birthday. Born on July 30, 1944, in Idaho Springs, Colorado; James was one of four cherished sons of Gerald Lyle Wooden and Ruby Illa Key. James is survived by his devoted sons, Troy Wooden and Donna of Rock Springs; Hank and Misty Wooden of Peoria, Arizona; three brothers, David and Oneta Wooden of Maybell, Colorado; Jack and Warapon Wooden of Denton, Texas; Ivan and Wendy Wooden of Craig, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Wooden; Tristian Wooden; Troy “Jr.” Preceding James in death were his grandparents, Humphrey and Jessie Wooden; Ray and Ruth Key; his father, Gerald L. Wooden; his mother, Ruby I. James Richard Wooden will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for a life full of love, service, and adventure.
