Ukraine expects to achieve the necessary results in developing its own ballistic weapons and anti-ballistic systems during 2026-2027, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following a meeting on preparing Ukraine’s ballistic capabilities and implementing tasks under the FREYJA anti-ballistic program. We expect that by the 2026-2027 stage, Ukraine will achieve the results we need," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday. The National Security and Defense Council, the government, the Defense Ministry, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Air Force Command and the Brave1 defense-tech team, along with representatives of Ukraine’s defense industry, are involved in the effort. Zelenskyy said developing domestic ballistic capability and a new anti-ballistic system is a task only a limited number of countries in the world have managed to accomplish. Zelenskyy separately said work is underway with partners on PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles and said he expects the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry to deliver results in related communications.
