AI music startup Suno announced several major changes Thursday aimed at cracking down on the misuse of songs generated on its platform. Suno will also introduce a new download policy intended to limit users’ ability to mass-distribute songs on streaming platforms. Still, the company is trying to walk a fine line between aggressively combating fraud and calling all AI-generated music outright slop. He added that it should be up to artists and platforms to decide whether to disclose that a song was made using AI. The music streaming platform and Universal recently announced a tool that will allow users to create AI-generated covers and remixes using music from participating artists.
