The tour kicks off next month in Buffalo. The producers of Buena Vista Social Club have announced the full cast and band for the North American tour, which kicks off at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre September 12-19, with further stops scheduled for Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. The Buena Vista Social Club band features Nicolas Perez (Music Director, Piano), Abraham Dorta (Guitar), Jorge Bringas (Bass), Ray Contreras (Percussion), Keisel Jiménez Leyva (Percussion), Caleb Michel (Percussion), Ivan Llanes Montejo (Percussion), Roisel Suárez (Trumpet), Ben Romanow (Trombone), Joaquín Sosa (Woodwinds) and Marcos A. Torres III (Musician Swing). With a book by Marco Ramirez and direction by Saheem Ali, Buena Vista Social Club uses the music of the 1997 Grammy Award-winning album to tell a story set against the political turmoil of Cuba in the 20th century. TheaterMania’s review remarked, “The music is so good, the performances so alive, and the band so sexy.”
