Wilton Receives $140K State Grant for School Building Repairs
['Julie Martin Banks']
Good Morning Wilton
Key Points Wilton Public Schools received nearly $140,000 through Connecticut’s new District Repair and Improvement Program to address smaller building repairs.
The funding will replace an unexpected HVAC split unit at Wilton High School and doors at three schools while supporting other maintenance needs.
Unlike major capital projects that require voter-approved bonding, many routine maintenance needs must compete each year for limited operating dollars.
It’s an issue Wilton officials have wrestled with for years as they work through a growing backlog of facilities needs.
“There’s hard choices here when you’re trying to protect programs and having to respond to facilities needs,” Smith said.
