Mountain chickadees, as their common name suggests, are chickadees of mountain habitats, specifically mountains of the American West and Canada. ADVERTISEMENTNot unlike other chickadees in habit, mountain chickadees don’t differ much in this regard, but there are interesting differences, nonetheless. Aside from the aforementioned physical trait, mountain chickadees incubate their eggs inside of tree cavities about a week longer than black-capped chickadees do. Like all chickadees, mountain chickadees target insects during the warmer months of the year, while foraging on seeds and nuts in the wintertime. And like other chickadees, mountain chickadees actively cache food.
