Gold Derby
Last weekend belonged to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened to a record $360.1 million and helped push the domestic box office to its biggest three days ever at $436.6 million.
Word of mouth is excellent — the film is sitting at 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes' Popcornmeter with a 4.1 average from Letterboxd users — and there is no direct competition in the marketplace.
Brand New Day also picks up Imax screens and showtimes this weekend, though the exact footprint has not been confirmed.
It posted the biggest Monday in domestic history with $47 million, then the biggest Tuesday ever with $42 million.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey should hold second place in its fourth weekend with a forecast range of $30 million to $45 million.
