WalletHub has ranked Jersey City the 31st happiest city in the country, which also has the lowest depression rate among the 182 cities studied and assigned scores.
The ideal city provides conditions that foster good mental and physical health, like reasonable work hours, short commutes, good weather, and caring neighbors.”
Each city was evaluated across 29 key indicators of happiness, including depression rates, income growth, and average daily leisure time.
In the case of Jersey City, they had a physical and emotional well-being rank of 16, an income and employment rank of 154, and a community and environment rank of 75.
In addition to the lowest depression rate, Jersey City had the second lowest suicide rate, behind Newark – who was ranked the 147th happiest city in the WalletHub study.
