The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago is inviting the public to celebrate World Steelpan Day 2026 with an afternoon of music, culture and history at Mille Fleurs in Port-of-Spain on Saturday. The event, titled PAN Heritage: The Experience, will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is designed to showcase the evolution of the steelpan while highlighting the cultural traditions that gave rise to Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument. According to the National Trust, the event seeks to educate, entertain and inspire a deeper appreciation for the steelpan’s cultural significance while encouraging younger generations to embrace one of the country’s greatest contributions to the world. World Steelpan Day is observed annually to recognise the global impact of the steelpan, the only acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century. The National Trust said hosting the event at the historic Mille Fleurs property provides an ideal setting to celebrate the country’s cultural heritage while bringing together music, education and community engagement in one location.
