The measure would place Ohio’s current voter ID requirements into the state constitution, making future changes more difficult.
Supporters of Issue 3 say adding the requirement to the Ohio Constitution would create a permanent standard for elections.
Under current law, acceptable identification includes an Ohio driver’s license, an Ohio identification card, a United States passport or passport card, or a military ID.
The Ohio Ballot Board approved the wording voters will see on the ballot Nov. 3.
The decision comes less than 100 days before Election Day, when Ohioans will decide whether to add the photo ID requirement to the state constitution.
