Around 100 Great Yarmouth Services (GYS) staff – including bin collectors, street cleaners, gardeners and grave diggers – walked out on Thursday morning (August 6) in a row over pay. Bin workers have voted for strike action in Great Yarmouth. Great Yarmouth Borough Council has now said its priority during the strike s is black‑bin collections, litter‑bin emptying and street cleaning in key locations, alongside grave‑digging services. Brown‑bin garden waste collections will pause until August 18, while bulky‑waste bookings are suspended until August 17. Carl Smith, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
