A proposal has been submitted for a snooker academy to be opened at a commercial property on Mill Gate, Oldham. Planning documents have shown the applicant is looking to open the snooker hall between 6.30pm and 3am every day of the week, which has raised concerns amongst some who live nearby. One person said: "Snooker is not known to attract rowdy crowds, the approval of the application will benefit many snooker avid players that just want a decent facility to play snooker and chill out." In June, plans for an indoor children's soft play centre were approved in a separate unit within the same structure on Mill Gate. The planning statement in support of the snooker hall has said the development would deliver "clear economic and community benefits," adding that no alcohol would be sold at the site.
