Last week, it was announced that Orchard House Day Hospital in Royton will no longer deliver services at the site come the end of August, leaving patients affected as the service moves to the Oldham neighbourhood mental health team. The day hospital supports people in the area who are over 65 and who have already been referred to mental health services. Susan Mansfield paid tribute to the staff at the day hospital, saying: "OMG I’m shocked, Orchard House is an amazing facility with great staff and will be sorely missed." Orchard House will stop taking referrals on August 28 and instead referrals for older adults will move to the Oldham neighbourhood mental health team. Whilst services delivered at Orchard House will change, the building will still be open.
