All inpatient vascular surgery at Royal Oldham could be scrapped and moved exclusively to Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) under the new proposals which are now being consulted on. Currently, all vascular surgery in Greater Manchester is carried out at Royal Oldham and MRI, with NHS Greater Manchester saying it is looking to "make sure vascular services continue to provide safe, high-quality care for everyone who needs them now and in the future." NHS Greater Manchester has said its "preferred option" is to provide all inpatient vascular surgery at MRI, which is based on Oxford Road in Manchester. NHS Greater Manchester said this would improve safety and quality, support specialist staff, would help to meet national standards and would be the most practical way to deliver all vascular surgery. As part of the consultation, NHS Greater Manchester wants to hear from people, particularly those who have experience blood conditions or have previously had vascular surgery.
