Manila, Aug. 6 (CNA) A record 147 Filipinos received scholarships funded by Taiwan's government this year for the 2026-2027 academic year, with applications exceeding 1,000 amid growing interest in studying in the country, Taiwan's representative office in the Philippines said Thursday. The 147 scholarships awarded beat the previous record of 135 set in 2025. Taiwan's representative to the Philippines, Wallace Chow (周民淦), said applications rose from 650 in 2025 to more than 1,000 this year, reflecting continued growth in Filipinos' interest in studying in Taiwan.
