Brenda Pearson, 50, pleaded guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol count of 66 microgrammes - the legal limit being 22 - in Laurel Bank, Hawick, on May 22. Prosecutor Ruaridh Allison explained how police received a call at 11.40pm that a driver in a black Citreon car had been involved in a collision with what appeared to be a stationary car on Weensland Road. He said that police arrived at the scene and there was no person present but there was damage to two vehicles. But when she could not get a taxi she “stupidly” tried to drive home but quickly collided with the stationary car. Sheriff Peter Paterson said he would have banned Pearson for 15 months but reduced it to 12 months due to the guilty plea.
