Haughhead Bridge is now fully accessible for walking, wheeling, cycling and horse riding. The bridge closed in September 2024 after a horse rider experienced a narrow escape when her pony’s hoof went through the worn-out deck. Councillor Jenny Linehan, executive member for environment, sustainability and transport at Scottish Borders Council, said: “It is great to see Haughhead Bridge repaired and reopened for public use. “It is fantastic that funding is being used to improve important local infrastructure.
