Our Leaders Have Degrees, But Do They Have Education?

There is a question Nigerians should begin asking more boldly whenever they assess those occupying public office: “Our leaders have degrees, but do they truly have education?” These are the qualities that distinguish an educated person from one who is merely academically qualified. Literacy equips a person to acquire information; education equips that person to use information wisely for the benefit of society. This is not an attack on formal education, nor is it an attempt to belittle academic qualifications. The time has come to stop confusing academic qualifications with education.
