Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has fired back at Afrobeats superstar David “Davido” Adeleke over the singer’s remarks ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, telling him to prepare his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for defeat instead of appealing to him. Davido, whose uncle is seeking re-election, had alleged during a press conference on Wednesday, August 5, that he had received information suggesting an unnamed politician from Imo State was planning to interfere in the Osun governorship poll. Responding in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Governor Uzodimma dismissed the appeal, insisting Davido should direct his message to the electorate rather than to him. This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.” Uzodimma also mocked Davido, urging him to focus on preparing his uncle for life after office instead of making what he described as emotional appeals.
