Greater Manchester Police said the discovery was made by road workers shortly after 11pm on Monday (August 3), near a bridge between junctions 3 and 4, as the workers carried out routine maintenance work. The M67, which connects Tameside to the start of the Peak District, was closed throughout Tuesday (August 4) while investigations were carried out. Now, police have said the remains belong to a man and have shared some details that have been established. Police are continuing to work with specialist teams to understand the full circumstances behind how the man's body ended up by the bridge. It is currently not known how he died, and police are looking to locate the man's next-of-kin to establish an identity.
