HMO plans for former Prestwich Chinese takeaway move closer after council approval
[]
Bury Times | News
In September 2025, plans were submitted to Bury Council for the former Chinese takeaway Fortune House, at 263 Bury Old Road, with developers wanting it to become a four-bed house HMO.
Planning documents stated the former takeaway is vacant and missing a first-floor structure, but under new plans, this would be reinstated so it can be converted into bedrooms for the HMO.
The application stated the building would be retained for commercial use, but applicant JCD Architecture and Planning said it would not be used as a takeaway.
The plans were approved by planning officers so long as the required developments began within three years.
This was then approved by planning officers on Monday, August 3, and means the plans to convert the building into an HMO have taken a significant step forward as this confirms key planning conditions have been met.
