Few things on the road are, by design, more conspicuous than a school bus. In fact, the color of the conventional school bus has its own name, established in 1949: “National School Bus Glossy Yellow.” The human eye processes yellow faster than any other color, and yellow is more visible in both bright and low-light conditions. So, if somebody says, “I never saw it coming,” he probably isn’t talking about a school bus. Keeping our school children safe in these situations begins when we turn the ignition key.
