The Bar + Block all-day steak house on Reading Road will wind up operations on Thursday, September 3. The move comes as owner Whitbread confirmed plans to shutter all of its branded eateries amid a major overhaul. The Sun newspaper published a full list of the Bar + Block, Table Table, and Cook House + Pub venues that are due to shutter on September 3, including the Winnersh branch and totalling 66 sites. The group apparently plans to replace the chains with restaurants housed inside Premier Inn hotels, which it said was more efficient and "highly popular with hotel guests". Woodley residents in a local online community group reacted to the news with sadness, praising the Winnersh Bar + Block's prices and staff.
