Ali, 45, first became unwell in October 2024 after noticing her mobility was affected while managing her type 2 diabetes. Sensory ganglionopathy causes widespread numbness, severe chronic pain and a profound loss of coordination. The latest fundraising boost comes from a series of local initiatives led by Dunfermline Whisky, who partnered with Edinburgh-based independent bottler Woodrows of Edinburgh and whisky discovery app Bevvy. Ali has also been sharing her story and documenting her experience of living with sensory ganglionopathy on Instagram at @feeling_legless. Dunfermline Whisky run monthly events on the second Thursday of each month.
