Dyfed-Powys Police issued a statement on Wednesday evening, August 5, after becoming aware of claims that the motorcyclist involved in the collision had died.
The force said officers attended a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on the A487 between Aberystwyth and Bow Street at around 1.20 pm.
A spokesperson said: "We have been made aware of social media posts circulating that suggest the motorbike rider has since died.
"We urge people not to share posts of this nature as they are inaccurate and distressing."
The collision led to the closure of the A487 in both directions between the Comins Coch and Penglais Hill junctions in Aberystwyth from around 1.20pm on Wednesday afternoon.
