Visitors using the Express Pick-up and Drop-off at the airport have reported being given the huge penalty after failing to pay the £8 fee, even though they had in fact paid in advance. The airport has issued guidance to customers after looking into multiple reports from frustrated drivers. A London Southend Airport spokesperson said: "London Southend Airport’s popular Express Pick-up and Drop-off facility provides a quicker, easier and more efficient experience for customers collecting or dropping off passengers. "Customers are advised not to pay in advance or while they are still within the Express Pick-up and Drop-off area," they added. The airport added: "Customers are reminded that the payment process for Express Pick-up and Drop-off is quick, simple and must be made after exiting the area and by midnight the following day."
