Emma Atkinson, 38, died after falling from the ninth floor of Shakespeare Towers in Burmantofts, Leeds, on October 22, 2024. An inquest heard that Ms Atkinson, who was more than seven months pregnant, had been visiting her father, David Atkinson, who lived in the flat. Coroner Naomi McLoughlin noted that Ms Atkinson had a history of mental health struggles and had recently missed a court appearance related to shoplifting. Ms McLoughlin recorded a narrative conclusion, stating: "Emma Atkinson died from a self-inflicted act but her probable intent cannot be ascertained either way." She described Ms Atkinson as "a much loved woman by all who knew her."
