Lifelong servant of West BowlingJoe’s association with West Bowling stretched back more than half a century, having first joined the club as an Under-14s player. Masters rugby pioneerJoe was also a founding and enthusiastic member of the West Bowling Masters side, dusting off his boots for their first-ever game in October 2021. Those who shared the pitch with him remember a competitor who never took a backward step and "didn’t suffer fools," but whose friendships and camaraderie in Masters rugby outstripped even his performances. More than 70 players have featured for West Bowling Masters over nearly five years, and each, teammates say, has a good word to say about Joe. Tomorrow’s funeral will be both a celebration of his life and a reflection of the deep imprint Joe has left on West Bowling and the sport he loved.
