Supplied by Specialist Small Craft Ltd, the purpose-built Kontra R450CC has been delivered to the Southampton Independent Lifeboat service. It is the first vessel to be supplied for the newly formed Southampton Independent Lifeboat service. Mark Pullinger, managing director at Specialist Small Craft Ltd, said: "This lifeboat will be used for urban search and rescue on Southampton Water. "Unlike inflatable lifeboats, the Kontra is produced from tough polyethylene, and able to cope with unseen underwater objects without risk of puncture. The Kontra R450CC is designed to launch within 10 minutes and pass under low bridges, making it ideal for the upper Southampton Water area.
